Discover the forefront of visual storytelling with our MA in Photography. This immersive online and part-time programme, spread over two enriching years, allows you to master the art of photography from anywhere in the world. Designed for aspiring photographers ready to expand their horizons, the course offers flexible start dates in January, and September 2025.

This programme offers a rich array of units designed to refine your practice whilst developing and engaging your theoretical understanding of photography.

You’ll begin with an introductory unit that sets a baseline for your MA study, before progressing onto other units which explore all aspects of contemporary photographic practice. You’ll work through practical thematic units where you experiment with and refine your photographic techniques, as well as more research-based units designed that will deepen your investigative and analytical skills.

Your learning will culminate into an extended final project that allows you to present to future employers an impactful personal body of work.

Additional information

To be eligible for the MA Photography course, you must hold a Bachelor's degree (BA Hons) graded at 2.2 or above, or an equivalent UK/international qualification in photography or related fields.

Non-standard applicants can apply based on their portfolio and work experience.

International students must meet English proficiency requirements, which include a Cambridge CAE or CPE withƒ grade C, Certificate of Attainment in English (London Board) levels 5 or 6, an IELTS score of 6.0+ with 5.5+ in each section, a TOEFL iBT score of 80+ with 19 in speaking and 18 in other sections, or a Pearson PTE score of 64+ with a minimum of 59 in each component.

The programme is structured as a part-time degree, providing flexibility with study alongside professional commitments. Each week involves a dedicated schedule of online learning hours, interactive discussions, and assessment tasks designed to challenge and expand your artistic capabilities.

The course is assessed through a range of methods, including practical projects, written assignments, and the thesis module, offering you a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
