You’ll develop a strong foundation in 3D modelling, sculpting and environment creation, learning how your work fits seamlessly into a professional production pipeline.

Shape compelling digital worlds

Explore both traditional and digital art techniques as you build your skills in concept, character and environment art. You’ll design compelling digital worlds, props and characters that support rich player experiences.

Working with industry-standard software and workflows, you’ll learn how to test and refine player experiences, solve technical challenges and deliver polished assets for real-time engines.

You’ll gain expertise in 3D modelling, texturing, and lighting. Learn from industry professionals and explore the latest tools and techniques to bring your game worlds to life.

Build essential game art skills

You’ll develop the core creative and technical skills in game art that are sought after across the global games industry.

Create 3D models and environments

Working with industry-standard software and workflows, you’ll learn 3D modelling, sculpting and environment creation, and understand how these sit within a professional production pipeline.

Develop concept, character and environment art

You’ll explore traditional and digital art techniques, building skills in concept, character and environment art to design compelling digital worlds and assets.

Collaborate in remote game teams

You’ll gain experience of teamwork in remote teams across time zones and develop project management skills through collaborative projects that mirror real game development practice.

Refine player-focused experiences

You’ll learn how to test and refine player experiences, solve technical challenges and apply professional production methods within collaborative teams online.

Additional information

Applications are considered on individual merit and potential. Some online undergraduate degrees may require you to submit a digital portfolio as part of your application.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is available for relevant certified learning or work experience gained within the last five years.

To complete your application, you'll need:

Evidence of your qualifications (or proof you’re working towards them), A digital portfolio showcasing your creative work (if applicable to your background), and a personal statement explaining your interest in game development English language qualification (if English is not your first language)

If you're a native English speaker, you should have or be working towards GCSE English Language Grade 4 (C), or equivalent.

If English is not your first language, you'll need to meet the same standard, equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, or an accepted in-country equivalent or appro

Modules

Develop core skills in drawing, visual design and digital tools while exploring fundamental principles of shape, form, colour and composition for games.

Learn industry-standard 3D modelling and sculpting techniques to create optimised assets for real-time engines, from props to simple characters.

Design, model and present characters and creatures for games, focusing on silhouette, personality, anatomy and visual storytelling.

Create immersive 3D environments and game worlds, developing assets, materials and lighting that support mood, narrative and gameplay.

Work in remote teams with designers and developers to produce game-ready art assets, using professional pipelines, version control and feedback processes.
