About this degree

Advance your academic career with the University of Liverpool

Do you want to enhance your academic practice and further your higher education teaching career? This online MA in Academic Practice from the University of Liverpool will provide you with invaluable teaching methods and techniques, informed by global pedagogical viewpoints.

Choose your pathway to acknowledged academic excellence

This programme has two pathways depending on your background. For those who do not hold a substantive teaching position in higher education, the first pathway is a route to gaining a PGCAP that will provide an excellent grounding in the theory and practice of teaching and supporting learning in higher education in a global context.

If you do hold a substantive teaching position which would enable you to demonstrate Descriptor Level 2 of the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023), the second pathway enables you to earn a PGCAP and simultaneously gain recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). This is done through a unique partnership with Advance HE, the UK’s foremost agency for driving excellence and developing leadership in higher education.

Elevate your leadership and research skills

The Postgraduate Diploma Academic Practice builds on learning from both pathways of the PGCAP to further develop academic leadership, scholarship, and pedagogic research in preparation for progression to the MA in Academic Practice.

You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a supervised academic practice project.
