From pastry to vegetables to sauté, secure your place in commercial kitchens around the world with International Culinary Studio’s flexible programme.

Over 12 months, you’ll prepare and present numerous dishes and gain numerous role-specific and culinary skills. 

Master key culinary techniques and kitchen safety

You’ll start by exploring the fundamentals of the hospitality and catering industry. This includes key areas such as food safety, workplace hygiene, and understanding different types of hospitality establishments, roles, and safety regulations. 

Throughout this course, you’ll also dive into essential skills like HACCP, nutrition, food sustainability, and controlling kitchen hazards, in addition to handling, preparing, cooking, and finishing a variety of foods.

Refine your skills in food preparation and presentation

Next, you’ll build your expertise in knife skills, cold food presentation, and the preparation of a variety of classical dishes such as stocks, soups, and sauces. 

You’ll also gain valuable insights into catering to special dietary needs and allergens, including fruits, pulses, rice, and eggs. This will ensure your dishes cater to a wide range of preferences and standards.

Advance your expertise in kitchen management and dish variety

Finally, you’ll focus on mastering kitchen operations, from menu planning and costing to the preparation of complex dishes. 

You’ll learn the theory and techniques for cooking and presenting an extensive variety of meats, seafood, and baked goods, elevating your skills to Commis Chef level. As part of your programme, you’ll need to complete 120 hours in a commercial kitchen.

Additional information

To be eligible for this course you must be:
  • 17 years or older
  • Completed at least 10 years of schooling
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English

Please note, that to complete this online programme, you’ll need to have the necessary kitchen equipment and technological requirements.

With the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you hone on this programme, you’ll be well-equipped to cook and bake at a Commis Chef level. 

This online programme consists of two theory-based final examinations and one online practical exam. You'll also need to complete 120 hours in a commercial kitchen. If you’re new to the industry, you’ll need to complete a three-month industry placement.

Upon completion, you’ll be awarded the International Culinary Studio Global Diploma in Culinary Arts and the Worldchefs and City & Guilds (UK) Certified Commis Chef Global Digital Certification, demonstrating your skills and ability to advance in the industry. In order to receive this qualification, you'll need to complete 3 months working in a Commis Chef role in industry.
